UFOs: Reframing The Debate

UFOs: Reframing The Debate on White Crow Books is available now from Amazon and all good book stores. UFOs: Reframing The Debate IF YOU LIKE YOUR UFO LITERATURE TO CONFIRM WHAT YOU ALREADY ‘KNOW,’ THIS IS NOT THE BOOK FOR YOU! The UFO field has produced thousands of dedicated researchers over the years, and reams of literature; but to what end? What can we claim to know conclusively today about the underlying nature of UFO phenomena that we didn’t know in the late-1940s? UFO study has always suffered from major organizational and methodological problems. It has also become dangerously self-referential. If ever we are to further our understanding of the UFO Read More

Real #sekretmachine – More Faith Based Ufology For The Masses

Having been more than a little outspoken over the past couple of years on the current state of what passes for UFO research, this will be my final say on the UFO community, UFO Disclosure or the pantomime that is Tom De Longe's Sekret Machines franchise. See Robbie Graham's articles on the DeLonge Delusion (part 1 here), (part 2 here), with part 3 to come. I really don't need to add too much other than to say, here is the first evidence (a word seemingly alien to DeLonge, Levenda and much of the UFO subculture), that all is perhaps not what it seems. Some weeks ago DeLonge posted the following picture on his Instagram account with the words 'A real Read More

PUNK’D! UFOs And #Disclosure – Ever Get The Feeling You’ve Been Cheated?

Given the recent furore over comments about UFOs by Hillary Clinton, her campaign chairman, John Podesta, and punk rocker, Tom DeLonge - it's time for a reality check. From the subculture that is ufology - the study of UFOs and their alleged occupants - to the mainstream media, punk musicians, The Pentagon and now even presidential candidates, everyone... yes, everyone, is using UFOs and the idea of alien visitation to sell something. So where's the truth and what's the reality? And is there really any money in UFOs? UFO Sociology Part 1 - The Subculture Within the tiny branch of the entertainment industry that is the UFO research community, I've rarely Read More

The Ufologist Curse Of Philip J. Klass

I once had the fortune to hear the well known UFO skeptic and debunker, the late Philip J. Klass speak. It was at the Fortean Times Unconvention in central London in the mid 90's (the year escapes me - Google puts it at 1997, but my memory says it was '95). I'm sorry to have to report, he was a far more eloquent and animated speaker than most of those on the side of the reality of the phenomena covered. Philip Klass died on August 9th, 2005, the following curse allegedly appearing in his will. But the curse had also appeared in print years earlier in Jim Moseley's Saucer Smear zine of October 10th 1983. Incidentally, Jim Moseley was another speaker at the Read More

High Strangeness 2.1 – Ufology Must Die 11/1/14

We were really pleased with the title of this show.  It came about naturally as I asked Lauren what she thought of the recent press buzz regarding the death of Ufology, Part 32. “Is there a crisis in Ufology and serious UFO research, or has it simply gone underground?” I asked her. “Well, to be honest, it can just die,” Lauren replied in her calm, gentle and measured tone. There was the inspiration for the show title. Little did we know that Jeff Ritzmann and Jeremy Vaeni had already beaten us to it and used it as a show title years ago, back in their Paratopia days.  Take it as an homage, guys.  I guess it’s hard to do original work in this field after all.  As Read More
